CONDUCT OF EARTHQUAKE DRILL IN SCHOOL
NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS EARTHQUAKE DRILL (NSED)
Earthquake is one of the common disasters that can cause injuries, destruction of buildings and death of many people. It is a natural phenomenon that cannot be prevented. It cannot be predicted where and when it could happen. To decrease the possible damage, injuries and death of people especially the students, teachers and other school personnel, Cavite National High School participated in the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill last June 22, 2016 at exactly 9:00 in the morning. The preparation of the said drill was led by our school principal, Mr. Augusto D. Ferma Jr. and the NDRRM team of Cavite National High School. They conducted an orientation on how to protect yourself during earthquake. Some of the reminders are don’t run, don’t push, don’t talk, don’t return and don’t bring your things. Aside from that, the teacher’s oriented their students about the school evacuation plan in case of earthquake. They also posted the evacuation plan in their classrooms. On June 22, 2016 at exactly 9:00 in the morning, the ringing of the school bell started the actual earthquake drill. All the students of Cavite National High School did what they were instructed to do in the earthquake drill. They “drop, cover and hold” and went to the designated evacuation area. After the siren, the assigned students were roamed the campus to check if there were students who got any injury and rescued them. They brought the injured students to the evacuation area and oriented the other students on how to apply the first aid to the injured person. The teachers led their students to go back to their respective rooms and check the attendance to ensure that all of their students were safe. |
